About the Collaborative
We support rigorous scientific research designed to broaden agreement on the facts associated with gun policy and inform development of fair and effective policies.
Why Fund Gun Violence Research
Despite more than 38,000 firearm deaths and more than 115,000 injuries from firearms per year in the United States, the public and policymakers lack basic information on the causes of gun violence and how it can be prevented.
Funders
The Collaborative is supported through philanthropic and private donations and was established with seed funding from Arnold Ventures.
What We Fund
Our funding supports research that seeks to understand the patterns of gun ownership and use, explore the benefits and harms of firearms in the United States, or evaluate policies designed to reduce gun violence harm in the United States.
Our Grants
We distribute research funding for projects that explore topics including suicide, school violence, officer-involved shootings, and firearm safety.
RFP
We seek proposals from researchers across disciplines to build a diverse field of gun violence researchers and strengthen research capacity.
